Red, white and blue bracelet braided from a Meiji period hand woven ramie, or Ojiya chijimi. Vegetable tanned Russet leather and antique American bone button closure. Hand stitched with waxed Irish linen thread. Cloth ages over time developing a rich fade pattern. Initialed and numbered. Ships gift-wrapped with handmade card. 14mm (.5 in) wide. Made in Texas. After weaving, these fabrics are spread out in snow covered fields where the sun and snow create a natural ozone that bleaches the fabric. The unique history of this textile has earned it a position on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List.
